Rolling Stone arrested over alleged assault

<div><p>Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood has been arrested over claims he assaulted his Russian girlfriend, British police said on Thursday.</p><p>The 62-year-old, who was divorced by his wife Jo last month on the grounds of his adultery, was arrested in Claygate, southwest of London, near where he has a home, Surrey Police said.</p><p>Media reports say he was alleged to have assaulted his girlfriend, cocktail waitress Ekaterina Ivanova.</p><p>"We can confirm that a 62-year-old man from Esher was arrested last night on suspicion of assault in connection with a domestic incident in Claygate High Street," said a Surrey Police spokesman.</p><p>"He has this afternoon been released on bail until a date in January pending further inquiries."</p><p>A spokesman for the rocker said: "I can confirm that there was an incident last night and that Ronnie Wood was arrested. He has since been released on police bail."</p><p>The arrest came three months after police were called to the house the Stones star shares with his girlfriend in September, after a row in which it was claimed she threatened to kill herself.</p><p>In July last year Wood -- who joined the Rolling Stones in 1976, and plays alongside Mick Jagger, fellow guitarist Keith Richards and drummer Charlie Watts -- checked into rehab to be treated for long-term alcohol addiction.</p><p>Wood and his former model wife Jo, 54, split last year after the former Faces star began a relationship with Ivanova, who is in her early 20s.</p><p>The couple were married in January 1985, and have a son and a daughter together.</p><p>The person with whom Wood committed adultery was not named in the divorce papers made public last month, when the couple were granted a decree nisi, the last stage before a decree absolute.</p><p>In the papers, Jo Wood was asked: "State briefly your reasons for saying that the respondent has committed the adultery alleged." She answered that her husband "has admitted it to me".</p><p>She was also asked: "On what date did it first become known to you that the respondent had committed the adultery alleged?"</p><p>She replied: "Shortly before our separation."</p><p>Asked if she found it intolerable to live with him, she stated: "Yes."</p><img src="http://admatch-syndication.mochila.com/images/ad.gif?aid=64684079&bid=informcom" /></div><div id="copyright"><div>
